A woman’s body inevitably goes through many changes over the years, from pregnancy and breastfeeding to weight fluctuations.
Coupled with the effects of gravity, the skin may lose its healthy, taut elasticity, causing the breasts to sag. As this happens, volume and shape are depleted, resulting in breast tissue that sinks down on the chest. Additionally, the nipples may stretch and become elongated. Although larger breasts may be more likely to sag, any woman may experience these problems.
To restore a youthful, perky chest, visit Houston’s sought-after Brest Lift Surgeon, Dr. Ravi Somayazula. Performed alone, or combined with a breast augmentation or breast reduction, the breast lift from Body by Ravi Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics can create the youthful figure you desire.
Mastopexy, more often referred to as a breast lift, is a trusted surgical procedure designed to raise the breasts on the chest. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight changes, genetics, and the normal aging process can cause lax tissue and stretched skin. As the underlying, supporting ligaments expand and contract, the breasts can begin to droop. The breast lift technique can address these changes, creating proportionate, shapely breasts and restoring a youthful figure. Out of the many cosmetic surgery procedures performed today, the breast lift is known for having one of the highest patient satisfaction ratings.
Many women choose to combine a breast lift with implant Breast Augmentation or Breast Augmentation Fat Grafting for comprehensive recontouring and size enhancement. Other women opt to combine a breast lift with Breast Reduction . Dr. Ravi also specializes in incorporating the “internal bra” technique into the breast lift procedure to provide extra support and promote long-lasting results. Read on to learn how Houston breast lift patients can work alongside Dr. Ravi to tailor this procedure to their precise goals.

A breast lift helps with more than just sagging. It’s a great option for women who feel like their breasts have changed in ways they didn’t expect after kids, after weight changes, or just with time. If your breasts don’t sit where they used to or don’t look the way they did before, a lift can help bring things back into better shape.
Here’s a breakdown of what a breast lift can fix:
Every body is different, and Dr. Ravi takes time to create a plan that works with your anatomy and goals. The goal isn’t to create a one-size-fits-all result, it’s to help you feel more confident in how your body looks and feels.

While the breast lift can provide excellent results for those with heavy, sagging breasts, many women also struggle with a loss of volume.
Combining mastopexy with breast augmentation allows women to achieve fuller, firmer, perkier breasts. Optimal results can be achieved using saline or silicone implants or through a breast fat transfer. On the other hand, some women may find their heavy, dense breasts require a breast reduction, along with their mastopexy. During the consultation with Dr. Ravi, the techniques required for the desired results will be determined. Those considering a breast augmentation along with a breast lift will have additional decisions to make. These can include the preferred implant type, size, and location. Dr. Ravi will assist in this process and provide implant sizers to try on during the consultation.
For some Houston breast lift patients, adding an “internal bra” step to the breast lift surgery delivers improved results. Depending on individual patient needs, Dr. Ravi may recommend one of two internal bra techniques: an internal mesh sling or internal suturing of the natural breast tissue.
Internal mesh sling. A biocompatible mesh sling is placed under the lower portion of the breast to provide internal support to the breast tissue or implants. This sling is gradually absorbed by the body in a process known as hydrolysis and replaced by firmer, more durable natural breast tissue. An internal bra gives extra support to the breast tissue and promotes a longer-lasting outcome, particularly when the breast lift is combined with breast implant augmentation.
During a breast lift Houston plastic surgeon Dr. Ravi meticulously places a series of internal sutures in the breast tissue to provide extra lift and support. Dr. Ravi performs an Auto-Augmentation by taking the native breast tissue (if there is enough), re-orients the breast tissue, and adds advanced pedicle shaping suturing techniques to make it look like an implant. He will then do a breast lift around that. This helps those patients who want more upper pole fullness but are reluctant to have implants placed. He may also use the internal bra (the internal mesh sling).
“I wanted to get my breasts done after having two children and breastfeeding for almost three years. My breasts were sagging and deflated. My plan was to do multiple consultations, but I saw Dr. Ravi first and instantly chose him. They had me start taking medicine five days before the surgery, and I really think that’s what made my recovery so easy. I had my breast augmentation and nipple lift on a Monday morning, and by Wednesday morning, I had no pain. I didn’t even need the emergency pain medicine they gave me. The nurses called to check in with me before my follow-up. Overall, it was a very pleasant and easy experience”

At Body by Ravi, Dr. Ravi focuses on results that look natural and fit your body, not overdone or artificial. If your breasts have started to sag or feel different after pregnancy, weight changes, or aging, a lift can give them a better shape and position without changing who you are. During your consultation, he’ll listen closely to your concerns, explain your options in plain language, and help you understand what a breast lift can realistically do for you.
A breast lift can improve:
The breast lift from Body by Ravi Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics can play a key role in helping to restore a woman’s confidence in her appearance by reshaping and lifting sagging breast tissue. Without significantly changing the size of the breasts, mastopexy will improve the shape and position of the breasts on the chest wall, restoring youthful contours that look better under clothing and swimwear. Additionally, during his breast lift procedure, Dr. Ravi can reduce the size of an enlarged or stretched nipple/areola, raising the nipple to a more natural position on the breast.
A mastopexy can be a valuable option for almost any woman looking to raise drooping, sagging breasts. The ideal patient will be in overall good health and understand the breast lift process, which will be outlined in detail during the consultation.
Women electing for surgery should not smoke or should be willing to give up all forms of nicotine for at least four weeks before surgery and four weeks after surgery. Potential patients should be at or near their ideal body weight. Breastfeeding needs to have ceased at least three months prior to the mastopexy.
Women who are considering having children in the future may be encouraged to postpone the mastopexy, as pregnancy will affect the size and shape of the breasts, jeopardizing the results from surgery. However, the ideal treatment plan will depend on each individual patient’s specific needs.
It is important to keep in mind that a breast lift is designed to raise sagging breast tissue on the chest, but the technique does not replace lost volume. Those women looking to add shape and fullness to their breast may achieve optimal results by adding breast implants or fat transfer. During the initial consultation, Dr. Ravi will determine the recommended technique(s), depending on your body and breast type, as well as your personal aesthetic goals.
To begin the mastopexy process, a confidential breast lift consultation will be scheduled at Body by Ravi Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics. Please allow one hour for this meeting, as the appointment will give Dr. Ravi time to get to know your individual needs and aesthetic goals. Without pushing any procedures, Dr. Ravi will gently guide you through the breast lift process, always ensuring an informed decision before taking the next step.
During the consultation, Dr. Ravi will review your medical history and current medications. He will then perform a physical exam to evaluate the size, shape, skin elasticity, and location of the nipples and breast glands. Precise measurements are taken to help Dr. Ravi Somayazula determine the optimal type of breast lift surgery (mastopexy) to recommend. To assist in creating a mental picture of the potential results, Dr. Ravi will share before and after photographs of his recent breast lift patients.
After answering any questions that remain, Houston Breast Lift surgeon, Dr. Ravi will determine if this is the right procedure for achieving your aesthetic desires. If so, a mastopexy treatment plan will be created. The exact cost of surgery will also be determined. During this appointment, a patient coordinator will review all of your payment options, including third-party medical financing through CareCredit.
All Houston breast lift patients will be seen in-office, approximately two weeks before their breast lift procedure. At this time, “before” photographs are taken of the breasts. A detailed information packet will be provided, with a clear list of “dos” and “don’ts,” and any last-minute questions will be answered. Dr. Ravi will write prescriptions for an antibiotic, pain medication, and anti-nausea medication, giving you plenty of time to have them filled before surgery. Finally, all surgical consent forms will be signed.
Breast lift patients need to avoid all aspirin and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDS) for at least two weeks before their surgery and two weeks after. This can prevent excessive bruising or unexpected bleeding. Additionally, smoking and nicotine products should be stopped at least four weeks prior to surgery and four weeks after surgery. This is vital in preventing complications and delayed wound healing.
To start, Dr. Ravi will create thin, predetermined incisions. From here, he will remove the stretched, lax skin, lifting the remaining breast tissue.
If needed, Dr. Ravi will reshape and reposition the nipple for a more natural-looking breast. Finally, Dr. Ravi will close the incisions with dissolvable sutures. A compression garment is put in place to reduce swelling and increase comfort, as well as to promote healing. The results of breast lift surgery are generally long-lasting, although this will depend on the individual’s skin elasticity and lifestyle.
During the procedure, Dr. Ravi determines the best incision based on your tailored treatment plan. The type of incisions may include the following:
This incision circles around the areola only, providing a smaller, reshaped areola complex with tighter skin and a lifted breast.
The lollipop incision is created around the areola and then runs vertically downward, stopping at the breast crease.
This incision goes around the areola, down the center of the breast, and horizontally across the breast crease. For those women with excessive skin and tissue, the anchor-shaped incision provides the most aesthetically appealing results. The bottom portion of the scar is well hidden within the natural breast fold.
Dr. Ravi has his own QuadA surgery center (Houston Plastic Surgery Center), which is next to our clinic, and he does all his cases there. Depending on the specific technique and the extent of correction, the surgery will take from two to three hours. The mastopexy is performed as an outpatient procedure using general anesthesia under the care of a board-certified anesthesiologist.
Patients should expect their breast lift recovery to take about one week. For the first 24 hours after surgery, Dr. Ravi recommends having a responsible adult close at hand to assist with any needs that may arise. It is common to be tender and sore for the first several days, and some women note tightness across their chest. Dr. Ravi will prescribe the necessary medications for a comfortable recovery.
Women are normally able to get up and walk the same afternoon of surgery and, within 48 hours, and are generally able to perform light activities around the house. Most women are back to work in less than a week. However, heavy lifting and vigorous activities should be put off for three to five weeks.
Mild bruising can be expected as well as temporary numbness. Swelling and shape distortion may be seen initially, although this will dissipate over time. Residual swelling may last for up to six months. A surgical bra or compression garment will need to be worn for the first several weeks, keeping swelling to a minimum and encouraging proper healing.
Follow-ups will be scheduled with Dr. Ravi within the first week of your breast lift. Additionally, several appointments will be arranged over the first year so that Dr. Ravi can keep a close eye on your healing process. During each exam, Dr. Ravi will assess the healing progression, giving the go-ahead to add certain activities, explaining how and when to begin breast self-exams, and recommending the time to resume routine mammograms.
While some benefits of a Breast Lift can be seen immediately, the results will continue to improve over the next few weeks as the breasts heal and the swelling resolves. Despite the fact that the mastopexy does leave scars along the incision lines, the procedure is known to have the highest level of patient satisfaction out of any cosmetic surgery procedure.
Dr. Ravi uses the latest, state-of-the-art techniques for his breast lift procedure, making it extremely safe and effective. However, as mastopexy is a surgical technique, there is always a small chance for complications to arise. Risks of a breast lift include bleeding, scarring, infection, asymmetry, and loss of nipple sensation. When performed by an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr. Ravi, the chance for complications is dramatically reduced.
The cost of a breast lift can vary from person to person because it depends on your unique anatomy, goals, and the kind of work involved. Some lifts are straightforward, and others are a bit more involved, especially if you’re combining it with implants or other procedures. Dr. Ravi will go over all your options and give you a detailed quote during your consultation, so you’ll know exactly what to expect.
At Body by Ravi, pricing includes more than just the surgery itself. Your total cost typically covers surgical fees, anesthesia, the facility, follow-up visits, and post-surgery garments.
